The Healthy Teens Act

The Healthy Teens Act establishes a competitive grant program through the NYS Department of Health for the specific purpose of awarding grants to school districts, boards of cooperative educational services (BOCES),school-based health centers and community-based organizations for age-appropriate sex education programs.
The Unintended Pregnancy Prevention Act

The Unintended Pregnancy Prevention Act would increase the availability of emergency contraception to women by enabling pharmacists and nurses to dispense the medication through collaborative agreements with physicians. The legislation would also mandate that all insurance policies that cover prescription contraception cover emergency contraception when provided by a non-patient specific prescription or over-the-counter.

Public University Emergency Contraception Act

The Public University Emergency Contraception Act would require each college and university in the SUNY and CUNY systems to disseminate informational materials in clear and concise language to all enrolled students regarding emergency contraception (EC). It also would require that any health service operating as part of these colleges and universities to provide emergency contraception (sometimes referred to as “the morning-after pill”) to students who request it.
