On January 24, 2005 FPA held its 28th Annual Legislative Conference at the Convention Center in the Empire State Plaza in Albany, New York. Over a thousand people came to hear Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton deliver the keynote address during the conference luncheon. Comptroller Alan Hevesi, Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, Senate Democratic Leader David Paterson and New York City Council Speaker Gif Miller were also in attendance and provided remarks.

Throughout the day conference participants took part in caucus meetings and workshops on a variety of reproductive health and rights issues including: enhanced access to emergency contraception, global reproductive health challenges and legal advocacy efforts to protect reproductive rights in New York. Participants also spent time meeting with elected state officials on comprehensive sex education, emergency contraception and family planning funding.
